10 KMC VO-Storm-Update 1 vo Severe Weather 4098 --
GRAPHIC=Severe Weather It's been a long night for A-E-P crews

working to restore power to customers
who have been in the dark since
yesterday's severe weather.

A-E-P spokesperson Todd Burns said this
morning that 15-hundred customers in
the Roanoke Valley are still without
power.

That number is down from fifty-five
hundred last night. There are still 300
affected customers in Pulaski.

Burns said it may be 4-o'clock this
afternoon before everyone's power is
restored.

In Roanoke, the storms fired up in
around 7pm... with high winds taking
out trees, and high water flooding many
low-lying areas, including the
intersection of Franklin Road and
Brandon Avenue.

In most areas, the water receded
quickly, but the clean-up is sure to
continue today in areas now covered by
a thick layer of mud.
