a thorough investigation after
allegations are made against him in
Newport News.

Newport News Police confirms that
Chief Joe Gaskins' estranged wife,
Veronica Gaskins, swore out a warrant
yesterday afternoon alleging assault
and battery.

The confrontation apparently
happened Monday morning at a home in
Newport News where the two got into an
argument.

Mrs. Gaskins told police that Joe
Gaskins pushed her.

She is alleged to have taken a
tire iron and smashed out windows and
headlights in his vehicle.

and neither person wanted to prosecute
at the time of the alleged incident.

But, a Newport News Police
spokesman confirmed that Mrs. Gaskins
came to a magistrate the next day and
swore out the assault warrant.

Late Tuesday afternoon, police in
Newport News had not served the
warrant, and no hearing had been
scheduled.

know how a girl trapped inside a
laundromat washing machine died.

VO-NAT The Medical Examiner released the

cause of death yesterday, saying
Rebecca Hope Wagoner suffocated from
being trapped in a washing machine.

When she went back inside she
said Rebecca was in the machine.

Police are still meeting with
prosecutors.

the New River yesterday morning.

lower section of the county, near
Parrot.

Witnesses say the man was fishing
when he fell in.

Rescue crews recovered his body
about two and half hours later.

for two suspects who tried to rob a man
last night.

The victime was walking to
Charlies Stop and Shop on Westover
Drive when two men, one carrying a
rifle, demanded his belongings.

He ran away and called police.

No one was hurt,

The Daleville Town Center will be
