GRAPHIC=None Live 8 is all about poverty in

Africa, but as preparations get

underway for tomorrow's big concert in
Philadelphia, Tracie Strahan set out to
find if it's the music.... or the
politics that's the draw.

PKGE:

ALREADY,YOUNG FANS HAVE GATHERED ON THE
BEN FRANKLIN PARKWAY TO GET A

GLIMPSE OF STARS TAKING PART IN LIVE
8..BUT RIGHT NOW THE MUSIC IS THE

DRAW, NOT THE MESSAGE:

SOT :fan/mos - "Josh Groban "

SOT- :fan/mos " i wanna see jay z

and beyonce "

SOT- : fan/mos Bon Jovi is my favorite

THE MUSICAL ACTS HAVE CHANGED SINCE
LIVE AID TWENTY YEARS AGO...AND

THOSE TOO YOUNG TO REMEMBER AREN'T SURE

WHAT THIS IS ALL ABOUT:

SOT- Fan/mos

uh i believe it's for is it homeless
relief?

STANDUP

fans are just across the street from
their favorite stars in Philadelphia

,yet a world away from the problems
plaguing Africa...which begs the

question..

will the message really get through in
the music.

UNLIKE LIVE AID, LIVE 8 ISN'T ASKING
FOR MONEY IN THEIR GOAL OF MAKING

POVERTY HISTORY...

FOR THIS GENERATION WHOSE GLOBAL VIEW
HAS EXPANDED AFTER SEPTEMBER 11TH,

AN EVENT LIKE THIS IS THE FIRST STOP ON
THE ROAD TO RAISING AWARENESS:

SOT- TYLER GERSTENFELD/FAN

you can speak all you want about
things...you can talk and talk and

talk...

but the moment you bring out a flute or

guitar or violin,

it makes people listen at a whole new
level.

AND HAVING THE MESSAGE COME FROM THE
FACES YOU SEE ON TV DOESN'T HURT.

SOT- FAN

even like for our age group it really
helps us to see what's going on.

like they'll explain some things on
stage and television and stuff so it

will help bring the message

FOR NOW, THE HEAVY LIFTING CONTINUES
GETTING READY FOR THE SHOW...

THEN THE REAL WORK BEGINS--HELPING A
NEW GENERATION WORK TOGETHER FOR

GLOBAL HARMONY... AND AN END .....TO
POVERTY.
