your help in identifying a man who they
believe is attacking women at Terrace
View Apartments.

The latest attack happened around
2:30 this morning.
Officials say a 20-year-old
Virginia Tech student was walking home
along Patrick Henry Drive when she
noticed a man following her.
She went down the stairs to her
apartment and locked the door behind
her.
A few minutes later, she heard
something in her apartment.
That's when she realized the man
had come in through the sliding glass
door.
Police say he threw her to the
ground, but she was able to fight him
off.
He finally ran.
The man is believed to be
in his early to mid twenties, with
shoulder length brown or red hair,
medium to large build and wearing
glasses.

investigating an apparent
murder-suicide in the Sandy Level area.
Officials were called to
85-hundred Axton Road last night.
That's where they found the
bodies of 44-year-old Loree Hedrick and
33-year-old Scotty Helbert.
Authorities say it looks
like Helbert shot Hedrick before
turning the gun on himself.
The two had been living at the
residence for about six months.

26th Street, with a half-empty bottle
of wine, a crack pipe and a bottle of

Scogin's case was referred to

remains drug free, the felony
possession charge will be dropped,
though he still faces charges in
Roanoke COUNTY.

one-and a-half percent yesterday.
That means folks who spend
roughly one-hundred dollars a week at
the store will save about 83- dollars a
year.
Smokers on the other hand are
paying more.
The cigarette tax yesterday

Each pack is now taxed 30- cents.
A carton is taxed three-dollars.
That increase was passed in 2004.

control officer shot and killed a pit
bull that attacked him.
Police say the pit bull bit the
officer in the leg and wouldn't let go

revolver.

altercation with a cameraman earlier
this week.
Rogers has received a 20 game
suspension and was fined 50 thousand

The 40-year-old was walking out

when he shoved two cameramen.
One of them had to be taken to
the hospital for treatment.
He has pressed criminal charges
against Rogers.
Selig handled the case

There's no word on whether

possible malfunction in a certain type
of defibrillator is now an urgent
recall.

in some defibrillators made by the
Guidant GUY-dant Corporation could
cause serious injury or death.
The company recalled a series of
defibrillators last month.
The implanted devices work by
sensing an irregular heartbeat and
shocking the heart back into rhythm.
But the recalled models can
develop an internal short circuit that
prevent them from working.
The FDA is urging patients to
contact their doctors to determine the
appropriate next step.

believe is attacking women at Terrace
View Apartments.

The latest attack happened around
2:30 this morning.
Officials say a 20-year-old
Virginia Tech student was walking home
along Patrick Henry Drive when she
noticed a man following her.
She went down the stairs to her
apartment and locked the door behind
her.
A few minutes later, she heard
something in her apartment.
That's when she realized the man
had come in through the sliding glass
door.
Police say he threw her to the
ground, but she was able to fight him
off.
He finally ran.
The man is believed to be
in his early to mid twenties, with
shoulder length brown or red hair,
medium to large build and wearing
glasses.

murder-suicide in the Sandy Level area.
Officials were called to
85-hundred Axton Road last night.
That's where they found the
bodies of 44-year-old Loree Hedrick and
33-year-old Scotty Helbert.
Authorities say it looks
like Helbert shot Hedrick before
turning the gun on himself.
The two had been living at the
residence for about six months.
