the Fourth of July was forced to a new
location.

The concert and fireworks have
been held for years at Victory Stadium.

But last night, they moved across
the Roanoke River to the River's Edge
Sports Complex.

Thousands gathered with families
and loved ones, setting up chairs,
playing football and volleyball, as
they prepared for the day's fireworks
finale.

And for the most part, people
seemed to like the switch from Victory
Stadium to River's Edge.

of southwest and central Virginia last
night, some people were taking time to
honor the sacrifices of America's
fighting men.

the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford.

Visitors reflected on the service
of world war two veterans, and the men
and women who are now serving the
country in Iraq and Afghanistan.

spirits yesterday.

Attendance has been on the rise
every year since the event's inception.

were expected to attend over two days.

More than 100 tombstones are what
drivers see along Southgate Drive on
campus.

It looks like a cemetery, but

there's nothing six feet under these
gravestones.

It's actually part of a three
year long research project.

Turfgrass specialists are growing
12 different varieties of grass on
these plots, trying to find the easiest
grass to care for in Virginia.

risers yesterday morning as they lifted

Now in its 9th year the event has
become a favorite for Lexington
residents like Peggy Hays, who bought
