We're now waiting for what the
remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy will
bring to our area.

VO-NAT The storm has left the Gulf Coast a

soggy mess.

It dumped more than 10 inches of
rain in some places, and knocked out
power to more than a quarter-million
people.

Cindy was downgraded from a
tropical storm yesterday after it made
landfall along Mississippi's Gulf
Coast.

But officials in North Carolina and
Virginia are bracing for plenty of
heavy rain.

in Haiti and threatened a direct hit on
Jamaica as it speeds toward the Gulf of
Mexico.

In the Dominican Republic, officials
warned of strong squalls from the
hurricane.

Meanwhile, a hurricane warning is
posted for eastern Cuba-- including the
U-S base at Guantanamo Bay where more
than 500 terror suspects are detained.

Officials there aren't planning any
evacuations, but they are taking
precautions.

mayor Carl Hutcherson is facing a
felony drug charge after a traffic stop
last month.

26-year-old Carl B. Hutcherson
the Third was arrested June 18th.

Police say he was nervous when
they stopped him on Route 29.

A search of his car allegedly
turned up eight ounces of marijuana.

Authorities say they seized about
two thousand dollars in cash.

Hutcherson is charged with
possession of marijuana with intent to
distribute.

He was appointed a lawyer
yesterday and will be back in court in
September.

His father remains the target of
a federal criminal probe of his
church's finances.

released the schedule for the Roanoke
Valley Vipers.

The club opens the season on October
21st against the Fort Wayne Komets at

have identified the two people killed
in an apparent Murder-Suicide.

Deputies believe Scotty Helbert
shot Loree Hedrick, then turned the gun
on himself Friday evening.

Over the weekend,

power to more than a quarter-million
people.

Cindy was downgraded from a
tropical storm yesterday after it made

But officials in North Carolina and
Virginia are bracing for plenty of
heavy rain.

causes several days of nausea, vomiting
and diarrhea. He says frequent hand

contagious, but Doctor Ridout says the
conditions are becoming more common in
younger adults. They are typically
related to obesity. To keep your weight
under control, Ridout encourages 30 to

Botetourt County, Doctor John Moore
says he's still seeing sporadic cases

Hutcherson continues to be the subject
of an ongoing federal criminal probe,
his SON is in some legal trouble as
well.

26-year-old Carl B. Hutcherson the
Third was arrested June 18th in
Lynchburg on a charge of possession of
marijuana with intent to distribute.

Police say Hutcherson was acting
nervously during a traffic stop ... and
that a state police dog found eight
ounces of marijuana in his car.

Police also seized close to
2-thousand dollars in cash.

Hutcherson was given an attorney
yesterday and will be back in court in
September.

The storm dumped more than 10 inches
of rain along the Gulf Coast and
knocked out power to more than a
quarter- million people.

Roanoke police chief Joe Gaskins has a
court date today in Newport News.

That, after his estranged wife swore
out a warrant against him, alleging
assault and battery.

In a statement, Gaskins says he is

ENG#1 Roanoke police chief Joe Gaskins is

scheduled to be in a Newport News
courtroom this morning to answer an
assault allegation.

Gaskins' estranged wife, Veronica,
swore out the warrant for assault and
battery last week.

Gaskins says through a written
statement he is not guilty and looks
forward to his day in court.

The interchange at Interstate 81 and
Route 419 in Salem is getting a major
overhaul.

The state is spending more than a
million dollars adding traffic signals
and left turn lanes on 419.

V-Dot crews will be working during
off peak hours.
