mistake-this Hurricane was no breeze

either-this storm had teeth.



Along Floridas Panhandle and especially
in hard hit Navarre

Beach---parts of roads are washed away


and a fire station is in ruins.



Trees are down-power is out, and it
could remain that way for weeks.



At times the storm seemed to have
eyes-ripping the insides out of some

businesses and homes and leaving others
with just flesh wounds.

across Florida. The term Federal
Disaster area has almost become

synonymous with this state.

and one man was killed when a

tree crashed through his home.



Back in Florida---Residents are trying


to keep a stiff upper lip but

theres a good chance it may begin to
quiver a bit---another tropical



depression brewing and though its a
thousand miles away-it appears to

it will close next month.

Valley Rich Dairy announced this
morning that it will shut

down its Roanoke warehouse August 5th,
leaving 160-people without jobs.

The Roanoke plant's closing ends a
43-year history in the Star City. It
opened in 1962 as a Sealtest plant.

Following several mergers, it began
operating as Valley Rich 20 years
later.

The company processes fresh milk and
other dairy products and juices, as
well as distributing ice cream for
major brands like Breyers, Edy's and
Klondike.

In addition to the Roanoke plant
shutting down, the company will also
close 15 of its 17-other facilities in
Virginia, North Carolina and West
Virginia, affecting 300-workers in all.

man who fell off a balcony at his
apartment building appears to be
accidental.

Apartments on Rivermont Avenue around
9:15 Saturday night.


That's where they found 58-year-old
James Hayward Russell lying near the
front of the building, suffering from
severe head injuries.

Russell had apparently fallen over

... he was pronounced dead at the
hospital a short while later.

victory in the USG Sheetrock 400 pushed
