This all started at 3:00 in the

afternoon on some very busy N-R-V
roads.

Blacksburg police cruiser... The
suspect goes by in a red Cavalier and
the officer immediately turns around.

A short time later you see the red car
drive through traffic onto the shoulder
and that's when the chase officially
begins.

Police say they were chasing 19 year
old Oren Lee Price.

They have warrants against him for
breaking and entering and malicious
wounding.

He was already out on bond, accused of
robbing the Blacksburg Deli-mart

The suspect eventually takes an exit

ramp and ends up on South main street
when his car suddenly turns down High
Top Road and the cruiser follows. A
line of cars in his path.

It's a windy road and as the cruiser
comes around the corner you can see a
cloud of smoke and a man with
lawnmower.

Police say Price almost hit the
pedestrian.

He got away on Merrimac Road when this
driver points police the wrong way.
They say Price had actually turned left
and eventually abandoned his car here
in the Forest Mobile Home Park. And
that's when many in the community saw
officers roaming the streets with guns
drawn.>>

Blacksburg Police won't say what
speed the chase topped out at, but it
was obvious from the video it was well
above the posted speed limit.

They credit the officer's safe
driving. They say he had to be cautious
on those busy roads and that's why the
vehicle eventually got away.

who shot a couple of people in
Landsdowne last night.

Twenty-five year old Natasha
Denise Kasey and 21-year old Stafford
Tyrone Thompson were injured and taken

their condition today.

Eighteen year old Derek Glenn
Saunders is wanted on malicious
wounding and firearms charges.

There may be a cash reward for
information that leads to Saunders'
arrest.

the attempted abduction of an eight
year old girl in Roanoke.

Officers were called to the 500
block of 13th street in southwest
Roanoke just after one o-clock Monday

morning, after four men allegedly tried
abducting an eight year old girl twice.

Officers later arrested Calisto
Romero Perez, Gregorio Perez, Francisco
Romero Roque and Zacarias Rojas Ruiz.

They all list Roanoke as home.

Police say the little girl was
not injured, and she did not know the
suspects.

The men are now out on bond.

Police aren't saying how the men
tried to abduct the girl.

trying to make sure they can control
what goes on at the county's newest
adult bookstore.

months ago on Radford Road in Plum
Creek.

The store and the county
immediately started battling over video
booths where customers can preview
adult movies.

Last night the Board of
Supervisors passed a new ordinance
requiring booths to be near the front
of the store and in plain view.

store's owners.

New River Valley jail, where some
offenders have a get out of jail -free-

card, of sorts.

There is such an overcrowding problem
here at the jail that some who show up
to serve their time are being turned
away at the door.

We got the pictures to prove it.
These were taken on Friday night.

You can see offenders lining up
around six o'clock to spend the weekend
behind bars.

But a short time later, they're all
alowed to go home.

What may surprise you is that they
get some credit for time served even

though they didn't spend a minute in
jail.

Now, we do want to point out these
are non-violent offenders who have been
sentenced to jail on weekends.

Even so, this is a problem that has
angered many in the legal community.

facility played host to annual Virginia
Long Course Senior Championships.

Last Night It's a fancy name for one of the :00 biggest swim meets of the summer for
elite swim teams across the state.

Last night Roanoke's Marlins -
the team based out of the Carter Center
at North Cross blasted 34 other teams
out of the water.

Despite being overmatched in
numbers with just the 17th largest team
in the meet - the Marlins won the boys'
competition, finished second in the
girls division and just missed winning
the overall title by a mere 12 points.

Nascar Images That included the Rousch teams of
Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth who showed
that they will have to be reckoned with
come August 7th and the Brickyard
4-hundred. Biffle posted the top
practice speed of the test at almost 1
hunderd and 82 miles an hour while
running 1-hundred and 12 laps. Kenseth
ran only 90 laps and was just 2 tenths
behind Biffle. There is another test
session planned for July 18th and 19th
that will feature Jeff Gordon and Dale
Earnhardt Junior and a number of
others.

birthday today.

newsworthy, but today is Seymour
Greene's 89th birthday.

Fellow employees surprised Greene
today with cake and coffee.

Greene's been working at Kroger
for 18 years- he started when he was
71.

Today customers gave Greene hugs
and kisses as they checked out at the
Tanglewood store.

Greene usually works five to six
hours a day.

And sometimes eight hours on
holidays.

Greene says, as long as he feels
