The Virginia Retirement System
yesterday announced retirement
contribution rates for teachers are
going up an estimated four- point- two-

"Health insurance credit" and

Why are the rates going up?

One reason is that retired female
teachers are living an average of two-
years longer than expected.

A weak market environment between
2001 and 2003 is also being blamed for
the increase.
