GRAPHIC=Shuttle Discovery All systems are still a "go" for

the Space Shuttle Discovery today,
despite weather worries and a few last-
minute glitches.

Seven crew members are set to lift
off at 3- 51 this afternoon.

One of them, mission specialist
Charles Camarda, is a 19-90 graduate of
Virginia Tech.

The trip to the international space
station will be NASA's 114th shuttle
flight, but the first in more than two
years.

The last shuttle flight ended in
disaster when Space Shuttle Columbia
exploded, killing its entire crew.

She alleges he pushed her down
some stairs at a Newport News home.

If convicted of a misdemeanor, he

dead after three trains crashed into
one another last night.

releasing its findings today that
suggest soda is a major culprit in
America's ongoing battle with the
bulge.

The group is asking the F- D- A to

require warnings on soft drink
containers that problems like weight
gain, tooth decay and diabetes are all
associated with drinking too much soda.

The study looked at soda, diet, soda,
and non- carbonated soft drinks.

robbery at a gas station was indicted
by a grand jury this week.

are considering restrictions on where
they could locate.

county's newest adult bookstore.

The store and the county
immediately started battling over video
booths where customers can preview
adult movies.

golf championship on the Old Course at
St. Andrews.

Yesterday in a five minute span
of time - the temperature swung some 60
degrees-- going from sunny and in the
80s to down right unpleasant in the
20s.

The tourney also announced that
players will observe London's first
official memorial to those who died in
the terrorist bombings last week.

Thursday at 1pm - golfers will
take part in the two minutes of silence
for the victims.
