for being a suspected bomb maker.
The explosives used in the

Family members of 18-year-old
Hasib Hussain released a statement
saying they had "no knowledge" of the
plans for the suicide bombing.
And they say if they had known,
they would have done everything in

Bedford a little more time to come up
with a plan to tackle its leaky
landfill.

The landfill operated for more than
thirty years before closing in 1993.
Tests have shown that residential
wells along Bell Town Road have been
contaminated with chemicals leaking
from the site.
The city has been working to fix
the problem and has provided public
water to the homes affected.
The Department of Environmental
Quality granted Bedford an extra 14
days to submit its plan.
The deadline is now August 3rd.

person responsible for a deadly
shooting last night in Roanoke.

Police responded to a house in
the 600 block of Murray Avenue
Southeast after gunshots rang through
the neighborhood.
Two men-- 28-year-old Ovidio
Arturo Mendoza and 28 year-old Fortino
Guzman-- were shot and taken to Roanoke
Memorial Hospital.
Guzman died in the hospital.
Nearby residents say they heard
multiple shots possibly fired from two
different guns, but no one reported
seeing the shooting.
Anyone with information is asked
to call the Roanoke Police Department.

finally caught up to a Montgomery
County fugitive today.
They found 32-year old Michael
Wayne Hughes around 11:00 at a
relative's home on Yellow Sulpher road
in the county.

Hughes had been on the run since
November.
He's now charged with numerous
crimes including five burglaries in
Montgomery County and a robbery in
Christiansburg.
Hughes is being held without bond
at the Montgomery County jail.

face charges.

Yesterday Police were justified when
they shot a seperate fugitive in May.
That's the result of a State
Police investigation released today.

May 3 Federal agent shot Greg Todd Akers
twice outside a restaurant in
Christiansburg after he tried to run
over a Christiansburg Police officer
with his car.
Akers was shot in the arm and
leg.
The Montgomery County
Commonwealth's Attorney reviewed the
evidence ,and decided that all
departments were justified in using
deadly force. Akers is awaiting
trial on robbery, abduction, drug and
firearms charges.

says basketball coach Roy Williams did
while he was at KU.

Kansas officials say Williams

bees.

bought a home occupied by an estimated
two million bees.
A local beekeeper was called in to
help him take possession of his
investment.
The bees were getting in through a
broken bathroom window.
