the two men shot each other.

But now they say that is not the
case.

The shooting happened around two
this morning at the 600 block of Murray
Avenue in Southeast Roanoke.

Two men, 28 year-old Fortino
Guzman, and 28 year-old Ovidio Arturo
Mendoza were taken to Roanoke Memorial
with gunshot wounds.

Guzman later died in the
hospital.

Officers are searching for a
third person who may have been
involved.

Anyone with information is asked
to call the Roanoke Police Department.

of Greg Todd Akers.

after he tried to run over a
Christiansburg Police officer with his
car.

According to the report,
witnesses say Akers moved his car in a
threatening manner and drove right at
the officer.

Akers was shot in the arm and
leg.

Montgomery County's
Commonwealth's Attorney Joey Showalter
reviewed the evidence ,and decided that
all departments were justified in using
deadly force.

Center in Blacksburg this morning.

noise and saw a man take off running.

Police searched the area on North

two weeks to come up with a plan for
fixing the problems at its old
landfill.

wells has shown that certain chemicals
have been leaching into the
groundwater.

The city has been working with the

Department of Environmental Quality to

submit its remediation plan to the
D-E-Q.

State police say that 25- year old
William Christopher Bumgarner of Fries

and 30 year old Alison Elaine Shaw of
Galax - were riding in a 2001 Dodge
25-hundred truck at 12:15 this morning.

The truck veered left side of the road,
struck the beginning of a bridge and
rolled over on its top.

It came to rest in a field-- killing
both occupants.

Highland County gives the okay to build
a wind farm in the western part of the
county.

A developer from Harrisonburg
wants to build about 20 wind turbines
which would create enough electricity
to power more than 15-thousand homes.

Opponents of the project say the

pending lawsuits.

One suit has already been filed
and more are expected.
