MERCURY WAS USED AS A WAY TO PRESERVE
CHILDHOOD VACCINES.

CRITICS SAY WHEN THE GOVERNMENT ADDED
MORE SHOTS IN THE 90'S, IT CAME

WITH UNSAFE LEVELS OF MERCURY.... AND
AT THE SAME TIME THE NUMBER OF

AUTISM CASES SKYROCKETED.

autism as well as how to prevent it

and treat it. But the evidence does

not point to vaccines as one of

those causes." :10

(STANDUP: Dr. Sean Kenniff/CBS

EXPERTS POINT OUT THAT BY 2001 MERCURY
WAS TAKEN OUT OF ALL CHILDHOOD

VACCINES, EXCEPT FOR SOME FLU SHOTS.

WHAT HEALTH OFFICIALS FEAR IS THIS
ONGOING TALK ABOUT MERCURY MAY

UNNECCESARILY KEEP PARENTS FROM GETTING
THEIR CHILDREN VACCINATED.

"the science tells us very clearly that
vaccines save lives and protect

our children." :05

ANYTIME SOON.

THESE PARENTS BELIEVE VACCINES HURT
THEIR CHILDREN.... AND THEY DON'T

PLAN TO BE QUIET ABOUT IT.

AN ACT BUT JAMES DOOHAN WILL ALWAYS BE
REMEMBERED AS MR. SCOTT, THE DEFIANT
ENGINEER OF THE STAR SHIP ENTERPRISE.

-SOT- CLIP STAR TREK,

DOOHAN ALREADY HAD A SUCCESSFUL CAREER
AS A CHARACTER ACTOR WHEN HE TRIED OUT
FOR THE STAR TREK TV SHOW IN 1966 HE
COULD DO A LOT OF DIFFERENT VOICES BUT
HE THOUGHT THE SCOTSMAN WAS THE MOST
COMMANDING

THE SERIES ONLY LASTED THREE SEASONS
BUT DOOHAN FOUND HIMSELF TYPECAST FOR
GOOD HE SAID EVENTUALLY HE JUST HAD TO
ACCEPT IT AND HE WAS PROUD WHEN YEARS
LATER THE SHOW WAS BROUGHT TO THE BIG
SCREEN.

-SOT-JAMES DOOHAN, SCOTTY

-NAT-SOT-BAGPIPES

DOOHANS MOST RECENT APPEARANCE WAS LAST
AUGUST IN HOLLYWOOD WHEN HE

RECEIVED HIS STAR ON THE WALK OF FAME.

BY THEN HE WAS IN THE LATER STAGES OF
ALZHIEMERS DISEASE. HE DIDNT

SPEAK, BUT HIS CREWMATES OF THE
ENTERPRISE DID.

-SOT-GEORGE TAKEI, LT. SULU OF STAR

TREK

Thank you for the gift that you've
given us for that beloved character

THE CANADIAN BORN ACTOR DIED AT HIS
HOME IN REDMOND WASHINGTON WITH HIS
WIFE AT HIS SIDE HE WAS 85.

AS FOR THE LINE BEAM ME UP SCOTTY IT
WAS RARELY SAID ON THE SHOW BUT DOOHAN
HEARD IT ALL HIS LIFE AND HE SAID HE
NEVER GOT TIRED OF IT.

GRAPHIC=None TV fans are also mourning the

inventor of the TV dinner.

Gerry Thomas said the idea of
packaging frozen meals in a divided
tray was partly inspired by airline
meals.

In 1954, the first Swanson T-V
Dinner consisted of turkey with corn
bread dressing, gravy, sweet potatoes
and buttered peas.

The meal sold for about one
dollar.

Gerry Thomas was 83-years old.
