Alleghany County supervisors to fire

of these two fine government workers.
These members of the board voted
according to the wishes of a small
group (about 80 members) of the so
called "Concerned Citizens" group, a
group which does not represent most of
the population of Alleghany County.
Changes need to made come November!!!!
A viewer in Roanoke (R. King)
took note of the accident in Bedford
County that left four teenagers dead.
"Drive on Virginia highways and look at
the shoulders. There is a drop from the
pavement and the shoulders are dirt or
gravel. The state of Virginia spends a
ton of money for equipment, materials
and man-hours to correct this only to
return to the same or worse condition
as soon as it rains.
If your tire dropped off the pavement
to this kind of shoulder, how well
could you return to the highway without
over-correcting or possibly having an
accident? Other states pave about 5
feet of the shoulder thus eliminating
this kind of problem. If Virginia would
pave their shoulders like this, it
would prevent accidents, prevent
property damage and even prevent injury
and death." News-7 welcomes your
