But the organizaition was forced
to change locations after realizing the
old building wasn't up to standards.

30 percent in the new building.

However there have been a few
drawbacks.

The expansion means it takes more

money to operate.

And gas prices have made an
impact.

Irvine says the cost of
transporting food has jumped
55-thousand dollars in the last year.

As a result, the food bank is
asking for monetary donations as well
as food.

Stores sell pre-packaged donation
boxes.

The boxes include a variety of
foods that can feed a family for a
couple of days.


After the food is donated, the
food bank distributes the packages to
charitable organizations, including the

and Girls Clubs across Southwestern
Virginia.

night --- after two failed attempts.
