tested for tuberculosis.
Health officials expect to get the
results tomorrow afternoon.

The center estimates that 88
people in all may have come in contact
with that individual.
The Health department will
continue testing tomorrow. Children

treated for fever and released from
Virginia Hospital Center.
That's the same hospital where he
spent two nights for observation and
tests last month also after running a
fever.
The chief has thyroid cancer. These
latest health problems are certain to
revive concerns about his ability to
remain on the court.
Rehnquist has declined to disclose
specific details about his illness, but
insists he well enough to continue.

Investigators have wrapped up
their third day of searching on the New
River.
The 16 year old from Mercer
County, West Virginia and his 20 year
old brother were pulled under by the
current in the Shumate Falls area
Tuesday.
Yesterday, divers found the body
of the 20 year old.
Searchers say the water was lower
and visibility was much better today.

warehouse prompted several businesses
to evacuate this afternoon.

The warehouse is also home to the
Southwestern Virginia Second Harvest
Food Bank.
The food bank's director said
they received a donation of household
chemicals that had already spilled.
A regional hazmat team was called
in to assess the damage and to clean up
the chemicals.
The spill caused more than 20
people to evacuate the building, but no
one was injured.

house fire in Salem this afternoon.

They were called to a house on
West Main Street around two-thirty.
When they arrived, they found a
small ceiling fire on the first floor.
A lieutenant with the Salem Fire
Department said three people were
inside at the time, but no one was
hurt.
Most of the damage was contained
to a small area.
Emergency officials had to block
off part of Main Street to get water
from the hydrants.

Last Night Roanoke fire officials say they're
not sure what started last night's fire
inside the Hooker Furniture plant.
They thought at first it was
spontaneous combustion but now say more
investigation is required. The cause
remains listed as "accidental".
Officials say the building's
sprinkler system kept the fire in check
until firefighters arrived and put it
out.

not have to conduct a fourth spacewalk.
The agency was considering
another spacewalk to fix a torn thermal
blanket near the cockpit window.
But Mission Control says the crew
will be safe for re-entry Monday
without fixing the tear.

tribute to the Columbia crew and others
who died trying to explore space.

A a team of Virginia doctors and
engineers is leaving Monday to teach
astronauts how to perform surgical
procedures while traveling in space.
Astronauts currently rely on
mission- control to walk them through
medical emergencies, but if a mission
ever makes it to Mars the communication
delay will be 45- minutes-- too long to
wait in an emergency situation.
Astronauts will train on a
virtual stomach before practicing on
simulated- skin.
The training mission is part of
an on- going partnership between NASA
and Virginia Commonwealth University.

accused of engaging in sexual activity
with a 13-year-old girl will be placed

with no one inside.
A Michigan woman delivering
papers thought she'd put the truck in
park. Instead she put it in reverse
and got out.
The truck spun out of control
until police punctured the tires and
brought it to a halt.

Pete Shaw the first ever coach of
Roanoke's Arena League 2 franchise will
be coaching football in the area again.
Shaw was hired as full-time assistant
coach at Ferrum College. Shaw coached
in Roanoke in 1999 through 2-thousand.
The Panthers open up their 2-thousand
and 5 season on September 3rd at home
against Guilford.

game series this evening against Myrtle
Beach. This is the final series in the
Avs 20 game homestand.

they are tied for first place in the
Southern Division.
The Avalanche had a 1 to nothing
lead in the bottom of third when Johnny
Ash would take one to right field that

would come into score for the home team
and extend the lead to 3 to 0.
Myrtle Beach was shutout by Salem
Pitching until the 5th when Jamie Trejo
would ground out to second base. Scott

would be enjoyable for anyone this time
of year. You will forgive Lee Mazzilli
if he doesn't have happy feelings about
his trip to Anaheim. Mazzilli was
fired by the Baltimore Orioles today as
they team's manager. The Orioles had
lost 29 of their past 39 games
including 8 straight.

the interim manager and took the field
against the Anaheim Angels with their
new skipper.
