Cave Spring Middle School.
While some residents will have to
move, most of those who spoke out were
neighbors of the development who fear
the impact on property values, and

The management company says a

officials say they are doing what they
can to insure the complex is a good
neighbor.

marker will unveiled later today in
Wise County, honoring a hometown
historic name from the "Cold War" era.

Powers, the Wise County pilot of a U-2
spy plane shot down while flying over
the Soviet Union in 1960.
He was tried by a Soviet military

At issue is a developers plans to
build a retail complex and homes on 57
acres next to the monument.
Opponents believe it will endanger

the state and turn Community Hospital
into a healthcare training facility.
