Officers say the teenager stole a
vehicle yesterday afternoon and then
led police on a chase.

hospitalized after flipping her car on
Route 29.

Michelle Rae Brown of Evington was
headed north when she lost control of
her car yesterday, ran off the road and
flipped at least twice.
Brown was thrown from the vehicle
and landed in the road.
She was airlifted to Lynchburg
General Hospital where she's listed in
stable condition.

result of a car accident.

at work and telling them they can
review magazines free of charge. Then
the bill shows up for five years of
magazines. This company is pushing
their sweepstakes and convincing people
to buy lots of magazines that they
don't want.

GRAPHIC=Fire Somebody smelled smoke in Danville just
before midnight, and firefighters soon
learned why.
A police officer quickly found a house
on fire in the 600 block of Wooding
Avenue.
Firefighters needed almost an hour to
put the flames out, and the home was
heavily damaged.
Fire officials say the occupants were
away at the time, and there are no
reports of any injuries.

County tourist attraction.

800-thousand dollars to the historic
Glen Alton property near Pembroke in
the Jefferson National Forest.
The money will be used to restore
the lodge and caretaker's house and to
improve public access to the site.
Last year Congressman Rick
Boucher got congress to pledge
1-point-6 million dollars to the
project.
County officials are hoping the
improvements will bring more tourists
to the community.

stunned collegues, friends, family and
fans.

The annual Roy Stanley Memorial Golf
tournament and auction raises money for
his scholarship foundation.

Since Roy passed away, the foundation
has been able to award grants to seven
young men and women.

On April 20th, News 7 ended more than
four decades of broadcasting from our
studios on Colonial Avenue with the 11
P-M newscast.
WDBJ then moved to our new digital
broadcast facility on Hershberger Road.
It was a quick turn around for
employees. News 7 Saturday Morning was
the first live broadcast from our new
studios. It went on the air at 8 A-M.
video at 3:19 in yearender�.
The top news story of the year was the
Short family murders
Michael and Mary Short were found shot
to death in their Oak Level home and
their daughter Jennifer disappeared.
Family and friends hoped she would be
found alive, until one day in

GRAPHIC=Fire Flames heavily damaged a Danville home
last night, a fire that a neighbor
could smell before anyone saw it.
Dispatchers got a call for the smell of
smoke just before midnight, and a
police officer quickly found a house on
fire in the 600 block of Wooding
Avenue.
The home was heavily damaged.
Fire officials say the occupants were
away at the time, and there are no
reports of any injuries.

EDUCATION 7 ANIMATION parking lots in three communities
today, and they won't be carrying any
students.

25 different school districts are
setting up buses outside of WalMart to
collect paper, pencils and items for
under-privileged children.
Yesterday, buses were stocked up
for Montgomery and Floyd Counties, and
today, they'll
be at the Walmarts in Covington, Rocky
Mount and Valley View in Roanoke.
All the materials collected go
immediately back to the school
districts.
