night.

The two are charged with first

Danville plant, a move that will leave
about 175 people without jobs.
The company announced today it will
close its Accessory sewing facility by
the end of this year.
Dan River officials blame U.S.
trade policies for negatively affecting
the textile industry.
They call the closing
"unfortunate," but say it is needed to
remain a "viable company in a very
competitive market."
Job terminations will begin around
mid October.

good one for UVA Head Football Coach Al
Groh, who today inked a fat new
contract with the University.

today worth $1.7 million dollars a
season.
The contract includes a base
salary of 240 thousand dollars and one
and a half million in compensation for
things like radio and TV appearances
and fundraising.
The 61 year old Groh graduated
from UVa in 1967.
He is beginning his 5th season as
the head coach at his alma mater and
his record with the Cavs is 30 and 21.
The raise over the first deal
Groh signed five years ago - is nearly
one million dollars a season.

hitching a ride back home today.

The modified Boeing 747 carrying the
shuttle took off just off this morning
en route to Cape Canaveral Florida.
It will make several stops to refuel
during the trip, which is
expected to cost NASA at least one
MILLION dollars.
Today's flight comes more then a
week after Discovery landed in the
Mojave Desert to become the first space
shuttle to return to Earth since the
Columbia tragedy.
The landing was diverted to
California after low clouds and
lightning prevented a return to Florida
on four earlier attempts.
