GRAPHIC=Murder Investigation Danville police are questioning three
suspects for a shooting death last
night.
The victim is indentified as 23 year
old Arlow Martemos Walker of Danville.

He was found in the 600 block of
Jefferson Street shortly after officers
heard gunshots in the area.
Responding officers chased a vehicle
that crashed into a pole, and at that
point, the three people inside fled on
foot.
One was quickly caught; the others
were found later.

in Roanoke last night.

the 12-hundred block of Cleveland
Avenue just before eleven o'clock.
They found a homemade explosive
device lying in the street.
Firefighters shot a pellet through
this soda bottle to defuse it.
They say the bomb had enough
explosives to take off someone's
fingers or a mailbox.

you recognize an assault suspect.

Officers say this man broke
into a home off Brambleton Avenue and
tried to sexually assault the resident.
It happened Monday night around
eleven o-clock.
The resident escaped and called
police, but the suspect got away.
The man's believed to be in his
forties, about 5 feet eight inches tall
and 180 to 200 pounds.
If you recognize the man in the

killed a local school teacher in May.
Now new information from a 9-1-1
call made within minutes of the crash
is shedding new light on why it
happened.
Staunton River High School teacher
Minty Brandley died May 24th when her
car hit a tree on Joppa Mill Road in
Bedford County.
As Steve Smallshaw reports it's
possible that crash was 'not' an
accident.

around 7 a-m the morning of May 24th
when her car hit this tree on Joppa
Mill Road.
State police estimate Brandley was
travelling about 75 miles per hour in a
55-mile-per-hour zone.
Why was Brandley going so fast?
The answer may be found in a
phone call made to Bedford County's
9-1-1 dispatch center at about the same
time the crash occurred.
A Campbell County dispatcher had
called Bedford to tell them she had
received a call from a friend of
Brandley's ... who had just talked to
the Staunton River High School teacher
on her cell phone.

Caller: She said that when she was
talking to her on the phone while she
was driving that she stated that she is
going to run her car off the road and
kill herself, commit suicide.
Bedford 911 Dispatch: Where was this
at?
Caller: She said she doesn't know, this
is the thing, that she lives in
Lynchburg, she's on her way to Staunton
River High School. She said she could
be going out 460, 122, she doesn't
know. She gave me the color of her car
and everything, she says it's a gold
Chevy Cavalier.
Dispatch: Okay, because we are taking a
motor vehicle accident right now on
Joppa Mill Road, car rolled over and it
split in two.
Caller: Oh my gosh.

Bedford County's dispatcher starts
to relay this information to deputies
in the field ... and then it becomes
clearer that Brandley has already
crashed.

Caller: And if that car, if that is a

And I don't ... see, I don't know the
roads out there and which ones go to
Staunton River High School ..
Dispatch: That's one of the shortcuts.

latest national rankings.
The engineering program jumped from
19th to the 14th spot in the latest US
News and World Report rankings to be

shooting that took the life of a city
resident last night.
They identify the victim as 23 year
old Arlow Martemos Walker.
Three suspects are currently in custody
and are undergoing police questioning.

Walker was found in the 600 block of
Jefferson Street shortly after officers
heard gunshots in the area.
Responding officers chased a vehicle
that crashed into a pole, and at that
point, the three people inside fled on
foot.

heard gunshots in the area.
Responding officers chased a vehicle
that crashed into a pole, and at that
point, the three people inside fled on
foot. One was quickly caught; the

Now new information from a 9-1-1
call made within minutes of the crash
is shedding new light on why it
happened.
Staunton River High School teacher
Minty Brandley died May 24th when her
car hit a tree on Joppa Mill Road in
Bedford County.
As Steve Smallshaw reports it's
possible that crash was 'not' an
accident.

around 7 a-m the morning of May 24th
when her car hit this tree on Joppa
Mill Road.
State police estimate Brandley was
travelling about 75 miles per hour in a
55-mile-per-hour zone.
Why was Brandley going so fast?
The answer may be found in a
phone call made to Bedford County's
9-1-1 dispatch center at about the same
time the crash occurred.
A Campbell County dispatcher had
called Bedford to tell them she had
received a call from a friend of
Brandley's ... who had just talked to
the Staunton River High School teacher
on her cell phone.

Caller: She said that when she was
talking to her on the phone while she
was driving that she stated that she is
going to run her car off the road and
kill herself, commit suicide.
Bedford 911 Dispatch: Where was this
at?
Caller: She said she doesn't know, this
is the thing, that she lives in
Lynchburg, she's on her way to Staunton
River High School. She said she could
be going out 460, 122, she doesn't
know. She gave me the color of her car
and everything, she says it's a gold
Chevy Cavalier.
Dispatch: Okay, because we are taking a
motor vehicle accident right now on
Joppa Mill Road, car rolled over and it
split in two.
Caller: Oh my gosh.

Bedford County's dispatcher starts
to relay this information to deputies
in the field ... and then it becomes
clearer that Brandley has already
crashed.
