a breast reduction. But just days after
surgery she says her wounds started

remembered and honored in Roanoke last
night.

found Tori Smith and 34-year-old Mark
Lester inside a home in the 19-hundred
block of Orange Avenue.

Officials say it was a
murder-suicide.

Yesterday, friends and family
honored Tori by holding a candlelight

Her 22nd birthday would have been
this coming Monday.

request on hold.

application from Ntelos-- to add
wireless equipment on top of this water
tower in the Park Place community.

The board of supervisors told the
company it should look for other
possible sites around the region, that
aren't in a residential area.

Many Park Place residents oppose
the company's plans -- saying it would
only make an *existing* eyesore even
uglier.

The board will review the issue
again during its next meeting.

Downtown Learning center recently had
positive skin tests for tuberculosis
infection.

But health officials say chest x-rays
show they do not have an active case of
the disease and therefore are not

Thousands of people made the
pilgrimage to Hunter Thompson's home in
Colorado for the author's final
farewell sendoff.

Before the Gonzo Journalist took

his life in February, he said he wanted
his ashes to be shot out of a cannon.

cult of followers.

application from Ntelos-- to add
wireless equipment on top of this water
tower in the Park Place community.

The board of supervisors told the
company it should look for other
possible sites around the region, that
aren't in a residential area.

Many Park Place residents oppose
the company's plans -- saying it would
only make an *existing* eyesore even
uglier.

The board will review the issue
again during its next meeting.

Bill Clinton.

At the center of the impeachment
process were two Southwest Virginia
Congressmen---Republican Bob Goodlatte

and Democrat Rick Boucher who both
served on the judiciary committee.
Democrat Virgil Goode of Rocky Mount
became one of five Democrats to cross
party lines voting for impeachment.

The year also marked a historic moment
for Republicans in the General
Assembly. Election '99 ended with
Republicans in control of every branch
of state government ending a century of
democratic dominance in the House of
Delegates.

The City of Roanoke said goodbye to its

longest running mayor, the Reverend
Noel C. Taylor. Taylor served 22 years
on city council, 17 of those as mayor.

Taylor died on October 30, 1999 from
