agreement on a draft constitution is
still anybody's guess, but there is a
sense of expectation in the capital
where people are keeping a keen eye on
the outcome:

(TRACK INSERT)

It was clear from Baghdad's newspapers
this morning that the deadline for the
constitution was very much on Iraqi
minds.

But there were conflicting signs from
negotiators on how close they were to
agreement, especially over major
sticking points like the role of
religion.

They have until midnight to present a
draft to parliament - or vote for a
SECOND extension.

Failing that, the only option is to
dissolve parliament and start from
scratch with new elections.

One member of the negotiating committee
said Iraqi people had more to worry
about than politics:

(Sadoon Al-Zubaydi, Member of
Constitution Draft Committee)

Constitution is a luxury when you don't
have electricity.

Insurgents made sure their voice is
still heard, killing more than a dozen
Iraqi policemen in two separate attacks
and six bodies turned up in various
parts of the capital - all had been

bound and executed.

The US is anxious for the political
process to keep moving forward so they
can set a timeline for reducing the
number of American troops and start
bringing them home.

(on CAM CLOSE)

While many Iraqis see the US presence
here as deeply humiliating, some are
afraid of what would happen if the US
were to pull it's troops out before
there's a strong and stable Iraqi
government in place, Logan, CBS News,

OQ=...NEWS 7 SPORTS." << More than 200 folks roasted at
(END SOT) the Rock on a smoking hot Sunday

afternoon.

But sweating isn't so bad when
it's in the name of charity and it's
honoring someone like Roy.

(BITE of CHRIS)

To date more than $50 thousand
dollars have been raised for Roy's
scholarship foundation through this
event and the spring time celebrity
golf outing and auction.

Seven young students have
received grants since Roy's passing in
April of 2002.

Now that the tournament is well
established - the goal is to help even
more students in the coming years.
