Frank Beamer is reportedly close to
agreeing on a big new contract.

August 5 The Washington Post says Beamer and

Tech are working on a deal that would
make him one of college football's
highest paid coaches.

The Post put the deal in the
neighborhood of two million dollars a
year for seven years.

Beamer's current contract expires at
the end of the year, and pays him about
1.2 million dollars annually, plus
incentives.

Beamer is the winningest coach in
Tech history with 135 victories in his
18 seasons.

The Washington Post says Beamer and
the school have agreed on the package,
but are still negotiating raises for
his assistant coaches.

signed a new contract for five seasons,
at one-point seven million dollars a

least two people dead.

But there was a much better outcome
for a woman who was stranded inside her
car.

of a 72- year- old woman, who crashed
her car into a rain- swollen river.

The woman was stuck inside the car
for two hours before the rescue team
finally managed to get her out.
