investigating a fatal motorcycle
accident in Giles County.

Rescue workers were called to the
Stony Creek area yesterday afternoon.

Crews say a fisherman found the
body of a juvenile and a wrecked
motorcycle in the creek around 4:30.

It took emergency workers some
time to remove the body and the bike.

No word yet on who the victim
may be or what may have happened.

fatal boating accident could be filed
as early as this week.

Lawrence and Judith Lewis were
killed Saturday night on Smith Mountain

Lake, when a speedboat crashed onto
their cabin cruiser.

Since then, we have learned more
about the other driver's condition that
night.

This Week According to a search warrant filed in
Bedford County Court, Mark de
Tournillon (Detour-Neon) told
authorities at the lake that night,

that he had NOT been drinking, but was
taking medication, including the drugs
*Lortab and Naprosyn.*

But, the warrant goes on to say that de
Tournillon later changed his story,
telling a game warden he HAD consumed
ONE glass of Merlot with dinner at
Mariner's Landing.

The game warden also reported smelling
alcohol on de Tournillon both at the
scene and the hospital.

schools will have a few more days of
summer vacation. Officials say teachers
and clean-up crews will need a few more
days to prepare due to major
renovations at Mountain View and
Effinger (EFF-in-jer) Elementary
Schools.

Classes start today at most
county schools, but students at
Mountain View and Effinger will return
on Monday.

The schools haven't had major
upgrades since they were built, and
volunteer Roberta Fauber (FAW-ber) says
the improvements are worth the

school board to consider regarding lost
time at the two schools.

County Supervisors approved
two-different subdivisions yesterday.

One would have 30-homes and be
located behind Breckenridge Elementary
School.

The other would add 170-homes to
the existing Santillane subdivision.

Some residents voiced concerned
about noise and viewshed. The
developers of Santillane agreed to add
some trees to act as buffer zones.

Construction is expected to begin
early next year.

expansion to the existing plant.

The expansion will also create
six-new jobs in the near term and 15 in
