Category One hurricane just before it
made landfall along the Miami-Dade and
Broward county line.
Weather officials say flooding is the
main concern as the storm dropped a
foot of rain or more in some spots.
Rain fell in horizontal sheets and
blew strong gusts, toppling trees and
street signs. Two people were killed by
falling trees.
Seas were estimated at 15 feet, and
sand blew across and covered waterfront
streets. Florida Power and Light says
more than 412-thousand customers are
without electricity.

when she was hit by a car tonight in
Roanoke.

dropped against the 14-year old
Chilhowie boy who HAD been charged with
manslaughter after his half sister died
in a laundromat washer.

in the washing machine June 17th.

June 17 The five-year old's half brother
was charged with involuntary
manslaughter, but today the prosecutor
announced he will not pursue the case.
Apparently the more
Commonwealth's Attorney Roy Evans
learned about the incident, the more he
realized how hard it would be to get a
conviction.
Today Evans cited a civil order
from the Juvenile and Domestic
Relations Court that Evans says
"provides much the same result [as]
...criminal prosecution."

that means, those who work in Juvenile
courts and corrections believe the
14-year old half brother would NOT have
been tried as an adult.
More than likely the boy would
have been placed on probation and
ordered to undergo counseling or
referred to Social Services for some
indefinite period of time. And that
may be what Judge Charles Lincoln has
done in the boy's case withOUT
conducting a criminal trial.

Police say the DVD titled
Real Talk is being sold in the city.
Officers are investigating

years for Todd Grantham to make. After
playing tackle and guard for the Hokies
from 1984 to 1988, Grantham served on
Frank Beamer's staff until 1995, the
last two years, coaching the defensive
line. He held the same position at
Michigan State, then headed to the
Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans,
before being named the Browns defensive
