fell asleep at the wheel this morning,
causing a crash that killed her
13-year-old son.

Bernadette Reed of the Bronx was headed
west on Route 460 near Evergreen when
she fell asleep and drifted off the
left side of the road.
Reed's Suburban then veered to the

Reed and two other children were
taken to Lynchburg General Hospital ...
a third child was flown to the U-V-A
Medical Center.
Authorities haven't decided
whether to file charges.

defense attorneys have agreed to drop
the criminal charges, because it was
unlikely there would be a conviction.
Defense attorney John Graham says
evidence proved his client never put
quarters into the machine, and made
efforts, after the machine started to
free his sister.

jacked up a two-story, four-bedroom
house yesterday and moved it about 200
yards to its new location on campus
today.
The home was built in 1922 for a
V-E-S faculty member ... his family

In this case newly-weds Rob and
Brittany Putnam found something totally
out of the ordinary.
It was a four and a half foot-
long boa constrictor warming itself in
the Putnam's engine.
He says it broke the serpentine
belt, ironically enough, leaving a gash
on the snake's head.
The boa's being treated with
antibiotics. A heat lamp has replaced
the warmth of the Putnam's motor.
