from Hurricane Katrina.

The storm whipped through New
Orleans this morning as a Category Four

storm -- taking with it parts of the
roof of the Superdome-- now serving as
a shelter for residents who weren't
able to escape the city.

when a speedboat crashed into their

cabin cruiser.

This comes as prosecutors work to
determined whether more charges will be
filed for the accident that took their
lives.

Authorities say Mark de Tournillion was
the driver of the speedboat.

Monday Officials have said from the start that
alcohol, prescription pills and speed
may have all been factors in the crash.

de Tournillion has already been
charged with two counts of involuntary
manslaughter.

in Moneta sent two people to the
hospital.

Both drivers were flown to Roanoke

In Montgomery County, a man heading
south to help with hurricane relief
efforts is dead after a tire blew out
on Interstate 81.

Officials say the tanker overturned
yesterday near the Radford exit,
crushing the cabin, and instantly
killing the driver, William Mclaughlin
of Manchester, New Hampshire.

Authorities say the truck was
part of a convoy headed for areas
hard-hit by Hurricane Katrina.

on a landmine will soon be walking tall
again.

Motala had her left front foot
amputated after stepping on the mine
six years ago.

Yesterday veterinarians in Thailand
fitted the 44- year- old elephant with
a temporary prosthesis.

Doctors say Motala will use the
lightweight canvas device for five
months, until her leg is strong enough
to carry a permanent one made of
fiberglass and silicone.

The Friends of the Asian Elephant
Foundation takes care of Motala, and
says despite the landmine incident,
she's in good health.
