This morning, members of the
Virginia Department of Forestry
gathered in Roanoke.
Usually this time of year- the
crew is shipped out West to battle
forest fires.
This year- they're heading to
Baton Rouge where they'll help set up
and run a food distribution center.
They aren't the only group to go-

the Roanoke and Christianburg areas
left for Mississippi- they'll work to
bring back electricity for residents.

the scramble to find the cheapest fuel.

Store officials say they

This afternoon Hokies A-D Jim
Weaver and Cavaliers Athletic Director
Craig Littlepage got together to
announce the formation of the
Commonwealth Challenge during the the
2005-2006 academic year. Adelphia will
sponsor the program that is designed to
promote the rivalry between the two
schools and enhance the relationship.
The Challenge involves 21 sports
between the schools with points being
awarded for each contest.
The winner gets a trophy that has
red brick to represent U-V-A and the
limestone of the Hokies.
The trophy will be presented each
fall at the annual football game
recognizing the winner from the
previous school year
