This morning, members of the

Virginia Department of Forestry
gathered in Roanoke.

Usually this time of year- the
crew is shipped out West to battle
forest fires.

This year- they're heading to
Baton Rouge where they'll help set up
and run a food distribution center.

They aren't the only group to go-

16-Appalachian Power workers from
the Roanoke and Christianburg areas
left for Mississippi- they'll work to
bring back electricity for residents.

combined with a missed delivery, nearly
ran the tanks dry.

Store officials say they
expect more gas tomorrow.

Several Atlanta gas stations are

charging nearly six dollars a gallon
for regular.

Some gas stations don't have fuel
because motorists are making a run on
it.

Many southern states get their fuel
thru pipelines from New Orleans- and

Georgia's governor warned retailers
that wholesale prices will be checked
and not to charge several times their
normal margin.

there was a suicide bomber in the
crowd, which led to panic.

few dentists who will accept medicaid
payment.

they need.

The state is hoping to convince more
dentists to accept medicaid patients by
raising the reimbursement rates as part
of the smiles for children program.

Up until recently the state only
paid dentists about 50% of the actual
cost for their usual and customary

This afternoon Hokies A-D Jim
Weaver and Cavaliers Athletic Director
Craig Littlepage got together to
announce the formation of the
Commonwealth Challenge during the the
2005-2006 academic year. Adelphia will
sponsor the program that is designed to
promote the rivalry between the two
schools and enhance the relationship.

The Challenge involves 21 sports
between the schools with points being
awarded for each contest.

The winner gets a trophy that has
red brick to represent U-V-A and the
limestone of the Hokies.

The trophy will be presented each
fall at the annual football game
recognizing the winner from the
previous school year
