house in Utah last night-- injuring the
pilot and a passenger.

never able to gain altitude after take-
off, and crash landed into an
unoccupied house-- setting it ablaze.

The wing of the plane could be seen
in the yard of a home next to the crash
site.

Neighbors say the two people inside
the plane were able to get out and walk
away from the crash, before they were
taken to a hospital.

the same parent company.

HCA has signed a letter of intent to
purchase the clinic and its outpatient

surgery center.

Under the agreement all 110 Lewis-Gale
Clinic physicians will be offered
employment with HCA. The new ownership,
however, will require more than 600
employees to reapply for their
positions, as somewhat of a formality.
Officials say they don't anticipate any
widespread lays-offs.

The deal is expected to be finalized
within the next 30 days. Officials say
this will only improve patient care
because the organization will be able
share resources and patient medical
records.

firefighters are battling a five- alarm
grass fire that's spreading toward fuel
storage tanks.

the tanks are not in immediate danger.

The blaze is also burning close to
home, just west of Travis Air Force

Base.

It's the latest in a series of
grassfires in Northern California.

Firefighters are being challenged by

The cause of the fire is under
investigation.

County yesterday to support to a new
program to keep track of sex offenders
once they get out of prison.

It's called Operation C-SORT for
Child Sexual Offender Registration and
Tracking.

The program will help police keep

un-announced visits at their homes.

went too far when an investigator
created a fake e-mail account and
contacted Bob Shell before he was

arrested.

The photographer is accused of
giving a lethal dose of morphine to his
model and girlfriend, Marion Franklin.

Shell's lawyers say the police
e-mails are outrageous and a violation
of constitutional rights.

They want all evidence collected
after the first e-mail thrown out.

The Commonwealth says e-mails
were a mistake by a rookie detective,
but they did NOT affect the police

Northern California.

Orleans.

Two levee were breached, filling the
below sea- level city with several feet
of floodwater.

In Mississippi, the death toll from
Hurricane Katrina is already past 100,
and expected to climb even higher.

victims.

The American Red Cross now has 10-local
people in areas ravaged by Katrina.

Meanwhile, Clear Channel radio
stations also hosted a drive to send

pilot and a passenger.

off, and crash landed into an
unoccupied house-- setting it ablaze.

The wing of the plane could be seen
in the yard of a home next to the crash

taken to a hospital.

North Carolina is taking a chance- It
will have a lottery- the last East
Coast state to do so.

The North Carolina senate passed it
yesterday- and the Governor is expected
to make it official later this morning.

Supporters say the lottery could mean
400 million dollars a year for North
Carolina education.

It could take away proceeds though
from Virginia's lottery. It's estimated
ten percent of Virginia's lottery sales
come from outlets along the North
Carolina line.

dollars worth of temporary fixes.
