investigation. Justin, what do we know
about this girl?

Jean, we know she is a six year old
girl.

name at this time.

They don't believe she has been
kidnapped but they are concerned about
her safety.

As for the circumstances that led to
this....

Police responded to this home on
Nancy Drive in northwest Roanoke just
after six o'clock tonight.

Inside, they found a woman dead, and
a man injured.

He has been taken to Roanoke Memorial
Hospital.

We do NOT know his condition at this
hour.

Police have ruled out murder suicide.

They believe this was in fact a
domestic incident.

As for the victim, we're told she is
a life long Roanoke Resident and was in
her mid thirties.

Back to the little girl for a moment,
police have not issued an amber alert.

They do say her father is a suspect
in her disappearance.

Friends of the victim told us the
woman killed tonight is the girl's
mother.

million dollars for hurricane relief.

View mall as they put the wraps on
their record-breaking fundraiser.

outlook for Virginia's gasoline supply
has "improved dramatically", thanks to
an increase in supply pipeline
activity.

And we checked into rumors that have
been flyng around today- and found
there are NO orders to limits gas sales
this weekend.

been some isolated shortages - places
like Danville.

Even as the cost of gas soared to
new heights, consumption was arguably
up ... as motorists became less alarmed
about the prices and more alarmed by
the sight of plastic bags and 'out of
service' signs on certain pumps.

by police at a Christiansburg
restaurant after a two week manhunt is
headed for trial.

Greg Todd Akers this week on several
charges including kidnapping and use of
a firearm.

He's accused of abducting a man
and robbing him at gunpoint before
leaving him naked on the side of the
road in Montgomery County.

of Alabama teen Natalee Hollowat in
Aruba are being released.

she's "devastated" that the suspects in
her daughter's disappearance are being
let out of jail.

A judge has ordered two Surinamese
brothers released tomorrow, provided

A Dutch teenager held in the case is
also being freed tomorrow.

All three have denied any coonection to
the disappearance.

Holloway was last seen May 30th.

leaders are trying to keep the Lear
Corporation from shutting down its
plant in Covington.

announced they would close the plant by

That would layoff more than 200
people.

Local officials estimate the
shutdown could result in the loss of
more than 100 other jobs.

WIPE TO VO-NAT Rick Adduno (UH-DOO-NO) will go

down as the first ever coach for the
Roanoke Valley Vipers, but he never
saw the Ice. Addunno was let go by the
club today before he ever coached a
game for the team. Adduno had been
with the Port Huron Beacons a year ago
and was coming with the franchise to
the valley. He was also the teams
director of hockey operations. The
release issued by the club said the
owners Kristen and Ken Dixon would like
to have a new head coach in place by
next week. The Vipers offices are
closed for the Labor Day weekend, so no
one was available for comment.
