An apparent propane explosion killed 6
of her grandchildren, ranging in age
from 19 to two. Rebecca, Joseph,

all died.
Sarah and Caleb Bryant remain
hospitalized in Michigan but are
improving.
Joe Bryant says he'll miss having them
right across the street from their
retirement home.

morning.

police found the body of 34-year-old
Sabrina Janella Reed inside her home on
Nancy Drive, Northwest.
54-year-old Osborne Lee Vaughan

daughter was reported missing, but she
was later found.

now patched levee breaches in the 17th
Street and London Street Canals.
Blackhawk helicopters filled the
breaches with more than 200 sandbags-
weighing 15-thousand pounds each.
Repair crews have now started to
pump water out of the city- a process
that's expected to take months.
The failed levee caused Lake
Ponchatrain to flood neighborhoods that
had emerged largely intact after
Hurricane Katrina.

regular season finale to Lynchburg this
afternoon 6-to-3, but got a big break
about three hours later with
Winston-Salem also lost to Potomac.
The dual defeats mean the Avs and
the Warthogs will play a special one
game playoff to decide the second half
southern division champ tomorrow night
at 7 at Salem Memorial. This is a
first for the Carolina League.

Last Saturday Jonathan Wilson was named the Big
:00 South Conference Offensive Player of
the Week after he completed 15-of-18
passes for 147 yards and a touchdown in
leading the Keydets to a 33-0 win over
Davidson. The former Rockbridge County
Wildcat also had a 12 yard touchdown
run as VMI snapped a 12-game losing
streak.
The Keydets are once again home
this Saturday hosting William & Mary.

off the 13 foot long great white- after
initially thinking he had paddled his
board onto a rock while surfing Sunday.
He says the shark rose from the sea-
bit his leg and then took his board
