GRAPHIC=Katrina Aftermath As the number of rescues dwindle
in New Orleans, authorities there are
turning their attention to the dead.
The exact casualty count in the
city is unknown, but officials expect
to find many more victims as the flood
waters recede.
And despite orders to evacuate,
many survivors remain in the devastated
city.
It could be months before those
who stay get basic services returned

Leading doctors say women are losing
out when it comes to heart care..
because of the perception
cardiovascular illness is mostly a male
problem. Heart disease kills twice as
many women as all cancers put together,
and is responsible for 55 percent of
deaths in women compared to 43 percent
in men. Yet women with chest pains are
20 percent less likely to be referred
for an exercise test, the first way of
checking for angina, and 40 percent
less likely to have an x-ray to
determine the extent of any coronary
obstruction.

The c-d-c says it will have almost 100
million flu shots during the upcoming
flu season.. but when all of the
vaccine will be ready is still up in
the air. Glaxo-smithkline is joining
three other companies who supply shots
in the u-s.. including Chiron who s
problems last year cost the country
half of its anticipated doses. They say
who gets shots will need to be
prioritized.. with children under six,
pregnant women and healthcare workers
getting their shot first.
