bacteria in the floodwaters is at least
ten times higher than acceptable safety
levels.
A state health official says
25-thousand body bags are on hand in
Louisiana.

More than two-thousand line
mechanics are working to restore power
in that state.

half million pickup trucks and sport
utility vehicles-
A cruise control switch is
supsected of causing engine fires.
The recall includes 1994 thorugh
2002 F-150 pickups, Ford Expeditions,
Lincoln Navigators and Ford Broncos.
And Totyota is recalling nearly one
million automobiles because of a faulty
steering mechanism.
The recall includes four runners,
compact pickups, and T-100 pickups from
1989 to 1996- with power steering.
Both Ford and Toyota will send out
recall notices to customers.

Gulfport, Mississippi from the New
River Valley.
Virginia's College of Osteopathic
Medicine is sending at least 17
students, five faculty, and trailers
full of medicine and medical supplies.
Radford University is donating
its Mobile Medical Unit.
The students are staying for a
month to bring care to hundreds.
Hospitals and doctors offices
from across the region donated the
medical supplies.
The convoy leaves in the morning
with the help of two Blacksburg
National Guard members and an agent

concerning the next big thing.
This afternoon one of the tallest
men in the world - and possibly a NBA
center for the next decade and beyond -
was shooting hoops inside the RAC gym.

Roanoke Athletic Club Sun Ming Ming, the 22 year old
:00 giant from China who is seven feet
eight inches tall - came to Roanoke
today not to show off his game, but to
raise awareness for his cause.
Ming has a 50 inch waist, wears a
size 20 shoe, and tips the scales at
360 pounds.
Unfortunately, he's still
growing, but not in the right way.

taking care of Ming in Greensboro since
earlier this year when he came to the

His surgery is scheduled for
September 26th in California, but
