Lynchburg police wrecked his car, all
for 40 dollars in gas.

Officers say the driver of a
Pontiac Vibe drove off from a gas pump
in Lynchburg without paying.
Lynchburg police then chased the
vehicle.
After speeds reached 105-
miles-per-hour, officers broke off the
pursuit.
Minutes later, authorities say
the same Pontiac Vibe wrecked on route
460 in Bedford County.
The driver then used a bicycle in
the back of his vehicle to ride another
half-mile down the rode before he was
picked up.
His name has not been released.

brewery that's been in business for
over a century.

The blaze engulfed the old Hamm and
Stroh Brewery that was first built in
the 18- 50s as the Pittsburgh Brewery.
Thick, black smoke could be seen from
several miles away.
The flames became so intense fire
fighters were told to leave the
building.
Officials say the buiding was vacant
and there were no reports of any
injuries.
No word yet on what started the
fire, although authorities say it
appears suspicious.

world- and possibly a NBA center for
the next decade and beyond was at the
Roanoke Athletic Club yesterday
shooting hoops.

Roanoke Athletic Club Sun Ming Ming, the 22 year old
:00 giant from China who is seven feet
eight inches tall - came to Roanoke
yesterday not to show off his game, but
to raise awareness for his cause.
Ming has a 50 inch waist, wears a
size 20 shoe, and tips the scales at
360 pounds.
Unfortunately, he's still
growing, but not in the right way.

Manning and his family have been
taking care of Ming in Greensboro since
earlier this year when he came to the
states.
His surgery is scheduled for
September 26th in California, but
because his tumor is considered a
pre-existing condition - insurance will
not cover it.
