blaze on Colemand Lane at about 4:30.

Two adults and three children got
out safely after the smoke alarm went
off.

Officials say the fire started in
the living room.

There was only one injury when a
firefighter twisted his ankle.

The cause of the fire is
still under investigation.

Tech returns to Blacksburg next
Saturday the 17th for its home opener,
but Lane Stadium will not be ready.

The University announced that
neither the West Side Suites, or the
indoor Club areas will be completed for
the Ohio University game nor the
Georgia Tech game.

That means about 11 hundred fans
will be displaced to other areas in the
stadium.

near Moneta involving a pickup truck

and S-U-V.

Hales Ford Bridge.

Police say 25-year-old Richard
Edward Campbell of Rocky Mount was
driving the pickup. He died at the
scene.

Campbell's wife Lori is in fair
condition at Roanoke Memorial. Another
passenger, 19-year-old Charlie Coleman
of Martinsville is in critical
condition. Police say no one in the
truck was wearing a seat belt.

A 17-year-old girl from Bedford
was driving the S-U-V. No word on her
identity or condition.

Police have not yet determined
what caused the accident.

in Lynchburg and two surrounding

counties. As a result, Lynchburg Police
urge churches to take appropriate
security measures.

Over the past two months
Lynchburg, Campbell County and Amherst

Two adults and three children got
out safely after the smoke alarm went
off.

The fire apparently started in

There was only one injury when
firefighter twisted his ankle.

The cause is still under

it was hijacked and crashed about 65
miles southeast of Pittsburgh.

The official September 11th
Commission report said the hijackers
crashed the plane as passengers tried
to take control of the cockpit.

The hijackers' destination may
have been the Capitol or the White
House.

of the fallen twin towers into
reflecting pools as the focal point of
the memorial.


A 13 member jury picked the
design from more than 5-thousand
entries from around the world.

The design for a new tower was
orignially unveiled in 20-03, but has
undergone several refinements.

The cornerstone was laid on July
fourth last year.

It's being called "The Freedom
Tower" and rises 17 hundred 76 feet
above ground -- symbolizing the year
the U-S declared its independance.

It's expected to be finished by
20-10.

The train ran between Washington, D-C
and Cattletsburg, Kentucky-- making
stops in Lynchburg, Bedford, Roanoke,

crowd attended the dedication of the
Gathright Dam and Lake Moomaw in
Covington .
