a North Carolina man slammed his van
into the back of a 18 wheeler.

The 53-year old driver of the van
died at the scene.

It happened at the intersection
of Fork Mountain Road and route- 220.

The cause of the wreck is still

has cost a former lawman his job and
his freedom.

Roanoke County sheriff's deputy before
he was charged in August.

This morning he went before a
Botetourt County judge.

The eighth grader told deputies
she met Simmons through a friend and
they saw each other a few times at the
beginning of the summer.

That's when she says he kissed
her and touched her inappropriately.

several Blacksburg schools- now police
say they've solved the case.

Police arrested 47 year old Debra
Huffman Earles today and charged her
with four counts of larceny.

The purses were stolen in the
past week in the parking lots of

Elementary and two day care centers.

Earles is at the Montgomery
County Jail without bond.
