SS=Fatal Accident We have some traffic information to
Traffic Alert Banner pass along.
Alleghany County authorities are on the
scene of a fatal tractor trailer
accident.
It happened just after 2 A-M on
Interstate 64 at milemarker 8.
Officials say the tractor trailer went
over the overpass and landed on Indian
Draft Road. As a result, Indian Draft
Road at the Callahan end is closed.
Also, the right lane of of I-64 east is
closed. Authorities say they're not
sure how long the roads will be closed,
but they estimate it will take much of
the day to clean up the area.

a beating from Hurricane Ophelia--
which is bringing strong winds and a
storm surge more than 10- feet high.
Already, a foot of rain has fallen
in some areas.
Officials are concerned about heavy
flooding, especially in low-lying
areas.
More than 120-thousand customers have
lost electricity.
After criticism from its response to
Katrina, FEMA already has 250 workers
on the ground to help any possible
victims of Ophelia.

Traffic Alert Banner Alleghany County authorities are on the
scene of a fatal tractor trailer
accident.
It happened just after 2 A-M on
Interstate 64 at mile marker 8.
Officials say the tractor trailer went
over the overpass and landed on Indian
Draft Road. As a result, Indian Draft
Road at the Callahan end is closed.
Also, the right lane of I-64 east is
closed. Authorities say they're not
sure how long the roads will be closed,
but they estimate it will take much of
the day to clean up the area.

sends me the investment opportunity of

stock frauds called the "pump and
dump". Here's how it works:

tout a company - usually a penny stock-
as the latest "hot tip" and urge you
you to buy in quickly.
Unwitting investors then purchase the
stock in droves, creating high demand
and pumping up the price. Then the
fraudsters behind the scheme sell their
shares at the peak and stop hyping the
stock. The price plummets, and
investors lose their money.The SEC
suggests you do the following before
investing in any stock:
Take- "Consider the source " Consider the source. When you see an
offer on the Internet, assume it is a
scam, until you can prove through your
own research that it is legitimate.

out to Katrina victims this week.
City High School students have
organized a benefit in Bisset Park for
Saturday from 11 in the morning until
sunset.
The community is trying to fill
this 53 foot long trailer from top to
bottom with goods for folks in Slidell,
Louisiana.
The truck will be delivered on
Sunday to a Mormon Distribution Center.
They are looking for canned food,
diapers, mops, brooms, cleaning
supplies and many other items.
Drop off supplies at the Radford
Fire Department or any city grocery

Katrina are finding a new temporary
home in Southside.

Society traveled to Winston Salem to
pick up ten dogs and cats that had been
rescued from the storm-ravaged area.
The animals will be cared for in
Danville until new homes can be found
for them.
Shelter director Paulette Dean

convince emergency officials to let
people bring their animals with them
next time.

As we've been reporting this morning,
Alleghany County authorities are on the
scene of a fatal tractor trailer
accident.
It happened just after 2 A-M on
Interstate 64 at mile marker 8.
Officials say the tractor trailer went
over the overpass and landed on Indian
Draft Road. As a result, Indian Draft
Road at the Callahan end is closed.
Also, the right lane of I-64 east is
closed.
