was shot once in the chest while
breaking into a house on Halifax
Street.

It happened around 9:15 last
night.

The suspect was taken to Danville
Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Police are still investigating.

for the man allegedly responsible for a
fatal boating accident at Smith
Mountain Lake.

involuntary manslaughter for the deaths
of Larry and Judi Lewis.

Last Month Authorities say de Tournillon's
speedboat crashed into the Lewis' cabin
cruiser last month, killing them
instantly.

But, now Bedford County prosecutors say
they are pursuing upgraded charges of
*aggravated* manslaughter -- based on
preliminary tests results that showed
de Tournillon's blood-alcohol level
that night was point-twelve-percent.

In the meantime, the victims' families
have filed lawsuits against de
Tournillon and his marina.

The families are seeking a combined

12-point-one million dollars in damages
for negligence.

neighborhood told city council the

night, and plans for the Social

continue to move forward.

is offerng to keep wild and feral cats
off the street.

recommendation to city council.

Among the suggestions - licensing
cats older than four-months,
prohibiting cats from running at large,
and establishing a sanctuary for feral
felines.

But not everyone welcomed the
ideas.

The issue is now in the hands of
city manager, Darlene Burcham

That's where it will be followed
up with and reviewed.

No word on how long that will
take.

As those who knew her pray for her safe
return, Richmond police are processing

homicide.

Scales was found dead Sunday night at
his home in Fieldale.

Investigators say Scales was struck
several times in the back of his head.

The Sherriff's Department does not have
a suspect or a motive, but officials
say there is a possible drug
connection.

Investigators are offering a reward for
any information.

dismissed against Beverly Boone.

VO-NAT Boone was the office manager for


Dr. Cecil Knox.

The two, along with three others,
were indicted in 2002 in a far-reaching
criminal conspiracy alleged by the
federal government.

The case involved racketeering
and illegal drug distribution.

Earlier this month, the doctor
pled guilty to drastically reduced
charges.

Boone has steadfastly refused to
admit she did anything wrong.

The case was set to go to trial
again next month, but the judge
dismissed the charges in a way that
means the government can no longer
pursue the case.

week for an eight year old Montgomery
County murder case.

morning for a second murder trial for

Livingston "Bud" Pritchett.
*CG locator Montgomery Co. Pritchett was sentenced to life April 1997 in prison back in 1999 for the first
degree murder of Estel Singleton at the
Ironto rest stop.

The mildly retarded Pritchett
confessed to police.

The Virginia Supreme Court later
granted him a new trial because the
original jury was never told about his
condition.
