Rita an "extremely dangerous
hurricane."

They say the hurricane's winds
ares still getting stronger-- and could
reach Category Five strength.

Rita is expected to make landfall in
Texas-- Houston's mayor is encouraging
residents most at risk to evacuate now.

But officials are even more concerned
about Rita possibly striking western
Louisiana-- and eventually affecting
New Orleans.

tested much sooner than anyone wants.

Hurricane Rita is headed for Texas
right now ...but heavy rains and

waves from the massive storm could

still spell big trouble for a town

still reeling from Katrina.

"At this point you don't have the
protection of a bonafided levee

system. That was damaged during
Katrina and 22 days is not going to get

you a level of protection that will
protect you from a tropical storm or

a hurricane."

Experts say as little as 3 inches of
rain could swamp the levees.

Residents who had high hopes of
returning home this week...have once

again been ordered by Mayor Ray Nagin
to head for higher ground.

And with Hurricane Rita looming and
gaining strength...thousands of

Texans are doing the same thing.

Texas has issued a mandatory evacuation
order for Galveston and is

providing buses for those who have no
means of transportation.

Officials say the Lone star State
learned valuable lessons from Katrina.

And unlike Louisiana where many
refused to abandon their pets....Texas

is allowing some evacuees to take their
fury friends along.

District was to be re-opened today

any harm has come to a a missing V-C-U
student -- but they HAVE searched the
house of an amatuer photographer with
whom she had a romantic relationship.

38 year old Ben Fawley is a
person of interest in 17 year old
Taylor Behl's disappearance.

through a mutual friend back in

assaulted a 12-year-old girl.

30-year -old Wilberto Hernandez
is charged with rape.

Investigators say the incident
happened Monday night, at an extended
stay motel on Thirlane Road.

Police say Hernandez is from El
Salvador and had been working illegally
in the U.S.

1997.

who'd lived at an aquarium in Gulfport,

Mississippi have been rescued.

They were swept out to sea when
Katrina hit the Gulf Coast.

A marine biologist says the mammals
are recovering well.

They're still in quarantine to

game will be moved from its regular
site of the Superdome.

They have narrowed it down to
playing in Baton Rouge at L-S-U's
stadium, or moving the game to Atlanta
and playing in the Georgia Dome.

Bowl Officials say the decision
won't be made for 3 weeks, when they
will know whether Louisana has
recovered enough to keep the game in
the state.

That's where the Sugar bowl was
established in 1935.

Robert Yates racing is shaking
things up.

Todd Parrott who had been Elliott
Sadler's crew chief for the past 2
seasons is going back to the 88 car
with Dale Jarrett.

Parrott and Jarrett won 26
races togther including 2 Daytona
5-hundred's and a point title in 1999.

Neither Sadler or Jarrett, the 2
Yates car's qualified for the chase
