We have some traffic information to
Traffic Alert 7 BANNER pass along...
A tractor trailer accident on
Interstate 81 North near Draper is
blocking the left lane.
The accident happened around 1 o-clock
this morning near mile marker 93.
State Police say the tractor trailer is
on its side in the median. Two people
were inside the vehicle.
Injuries have been reported, but
there's no word on how serious they
might be.
V-DOT says drivers should use caution
in this area.

about 50 cars killed one person and
injured several others early yesterday
morning on Interstate 77 near Fancy
Gap.

Police say 52-year-old James Sherman
Largen of Dobson, North Carolina was
walking along the interstate just after
five o'clock, when he was hit by a car.
Largen died at the scene.
Police say the car did NOT stop, and
they don't know who the driver is.
There were at least 15 wrecks
reported yesterday morning in a five
mile stretch of the interstate --
shutting it down for several hours.
Dense fog was in the area, but
officials aren't sure if that was the
cause.

for the last of two Buena Vista workers
killed on the job.

Both were killed Wednesday while
trying to put in a sewer line.

Roanoke County and left a firefighter
and his family without a home.

The family was out of town when
the fire broke out.
Officials say the intense heat

The cause is still unknown.
The home is a total loss.

Traffic Alert 7 BANNER traffic on Interstate 81 North near
Draper.
It happened around 1 o-clock this
morning near mile marker 93.
State Police say the tractor trailer is
on its side in the median. Two people
were inside the vehicle.
Injuries have been reported, but
there's no word on how serious they
might be.
According to VDOT's website, all lanes
are blocked.
Drivers should use caution in this
area.

Early reports show most refineries

killed at least seven officers and
three government workers.

has re-opened after a series of
accidents involving about 50 cars.
One person was killed and several
others were injured.

Police say 52-year-old James Sherman
Largen of Dobson, North Carolina was
walking along the interstate just after
five o'clock yesterday morning , when
he was hit by a car.
Largen died at the scene.
Police say the car did NOT stop and
they don't know who the driver is.
There were at least 15 wrecks
reported yesterday morning in a five
mile stretch of the interstate --
shutting it down for several hours.
Dense fog was in the area, but
officials aren't sure if that was the
cause.

his own home to fire.

Officials say the intense heat

The bloodiest confrontation of the
Danville Civil Rights Movement happened
on June 10th, 1963.

Protestors staged two non-violent
demostrations earlier in the day, but
the term Bloody Monday came from the
night time demostration.
Firefighters opened fire hoses and
policemen used night sticks to break up
the crowd of singing and praying
demonstrators around the jail and
courthouse. Two people were
hospitalized and 45 others were treated
for their injuries.
The events of Bloody Monday, didn't
dampen the demonstrators spirits.
Doctor Martin Luther King came to
Danville to support their effort.

headed to the nation's capitol to lead
the March On Washington on August 28,

Police arrested a suspect. 24 year old
Lee Harvey Oswald was taken into
custody the evening of the shooting.
2 days later while being transferred
to another jail, Oswald was shot and
killed by Dallas Nightclub owner Jack
Ruby.

The Natural Bridge Hotel caught fire on
a spring afternoon in 1963. The flames
devoured two of three sections of the
hotel as well as a nearby dormitory and
about a hundred acres of nearby
woodland.
And, fire gutted the popular
Candlelight Club in Roanoke County on
May 10, 1963 causing some 60-thousand
dollars in damage.

about 50 cars killed one person and
injured several others early yesterday
morning on Interstate 77 near Fancy
Gap.

Police say 52-year-old James Sherman
Largen of Dobson, North Carolina was
walking along the interstate just after
five o'clock, when he was hit by a car.
Largen died at the scene.
Police say the car did NOT stop and
they don't know who the driver is.
There were at least 15 wrecks
reported yesterday morning in a five
mile stretch of the interstate --
shutting it down for several hours.
Dense fog was in the area, but
officials aren't sure if that was the
cause.

Roanoke County and left a firefighter
and his family without a home.
