GRAPHIC=Fatal Accident State Police are trying to learn the


identies of two people involved in a
fatal accident last night on Interstate
64 in Alleghany County.

They say the car involved sped
through a license check at an on-ramp
just minutes before, but there was NO
chase or pursuit involved.

Officials say a westbound 1968 Pontiac
Firebird crossed the median at milepost
25 near Clifton Forge, and struck a
guard rail, throwing two people out
before going down an embankment.

One person was pronounced dead at
the scene.

The other was airlifted to Carilion
Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

An accident reconstruction team is
expected to work at the scene later
today.

When it does, traffic may be stopped
for a while between the two Clifton

is expected to return to the scene of
last night's fatal accident on I-64 in
Alleghany County.

State Police say the car involved sped
through a license check at an on-ramp
just minutes before, but there was NO
chase or pursuit involved.

Officials say a westbound 1968 Pontiac

Firebird crossed the median at milepost
25 near Clifton Forge and struck a
guard rail, throwing two people out
before going down an embankment. One
person was pronounced dead at the
scene. The other was airlifted to
Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

called in help from surrounding
departments to help them solve the
murder of a woman inside her home.

meter reader found the body of 33 year
old Dorothy "Dee-Dee" Harris in her
living room around 12-30 yesterday
afternoon.

They say Harris lived with her
husband and children along Route 26
near Bent Creek.

today in Roanoke.

identies of two people involved in a
fatal accident last night on Interstate
64 in Alleghany County.

They say the car involved sped
through a license check at an on-ramp
just minutes before, but there was NO
chase or pursuit involved.

Officials say a westbound 1968 Pontiac
Firebird crossed the median at milepost
25 near Clifton Forge and struck a
guard rail, throwing two people out
before going down an embankment.

One person was pronounced dead at
the scene.

The other was airlifted to Carilion
Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

to arrive in Roanoke around two o'clock

suspicious death of a young woman.

meter reader found the woman dead in
her living room around 12:30 yesterday,
at the home on Route 26 near Bent
Creek.

They say the woman lived there
with her husband and children ... and

avoid Walnut Avenue at the
Vinton-Roanoke city line. They say a
bucket truck hit a train tressel in
that area around 6:30 this morning.
Both lanes of Walnut Avenue are
