The Hokies braintrust talked
offensive strategy with Jeff King, It
was the defense though that gave Tech
good field position early.
Deep in Mountaineer territory,
Purnell Williams fumbles and Aaron
Rouse recovered for The Hokies, setting
up a golden scoring opportunity.
A few plays later, Marcus Vick
takes the shotgun snap and dives into
the endzone on the 10 yard keeper, to
put Tech on the board first 7-nothing.
Brandon Pace would knock back
a 35 yard field goal, his first of 2 on
the day and just like that it was
10-zip.
After a Mountaineer TD, Tech
answers as Vick connects with King in
the back of the endzone to make it 17-7
in favor of the Hokies.
Tech allowed two touchdowns in
a game for the first time since the
Carolina game last season. Pat White
goes to Dorrell Jalloh for a 46 yard
bomb, cutting the Tech cushion to 3.
The home team gained momentum,
but quickly lost it when Eddie Royal
made the grab on a 16 yard strike from
Vick. It was 24-14 Tech at the break.
Vick continued to impress in
the second half with his arms and his
legs, carrying the pigskin 23 yards to
setup another Tech score.
Cedric Humes cashed in,
finishing the Mountaineers off by
running four yards for a TD. The
Hokies went on to win the border war 34
to 17.>>
