Another controversy over Victory
Stadium: many are wondering why
tonight's football game was moved out
of the facility.

high school football.

While many games were postponed
because of the rain, some continued as
planned.

Then there's the Patrick
Henry/Franklin County game, that one
has many fans scratching their heads.

Shannon, it has to do with why and
where the game was played.

to play at Victory Stadium.

But this afternoon, the decision was
made to move the game to Franklin
County High School.

The reasons behind it are not exactly
clear.

The city of Roanoke says the field at
Victory Stadium was ok to play on.

But the athetlic directors decided
the field was too soggy and that is why
the game was moved.

Fans say fair enough, but then why
move it to Rocky Mount where the
conditions were also less than ideal.

game has been moved.

Last October, the homecoming game had
to be played on the road because of
flooding at Victory Stadium.

Fans say too many games are being

moved.

Apparently, the game went on because
of a scheduling conflict on Franklin
County's part.

by Saturday to play the game tomorrow
at Victory Stadium.

this afternoon in Botetourt County,
when a car hydroplaned on Interstate
81.

the interstate near Buchanan, when the
driver lost control on the slick
pavement.

State police say the car hit the
guard rail on the left, crossed back
across the highway and hit the
guardrail on the right before
rear-ending a tractor trailer.

Two people were injured in the
accident and emergency crews had to
free them from the wreckage.

Meantime, U-S forces in Iraq are
said to have

arrested a third suspect believed to be
involved in the alleged plot to bomb
the subways.

Authorities are also looking into
an informant's claim that a fourth
person traveled to New York as part of
the scheme.

Two suspected plotters were
arrested in Iraq yesterday even before
New York announced word of the plot.

The Washington Monument is open
again, after being closed for nearly
two hours because of a bomb threat this

afternoon.

A search of the monument turned
up nothing suspicious, and U-S Park
Police say it reopened at about 4:15.

Two major streets around the
monument were closed off and

bomb-sniffing dogs were called in after
the threat was made to

local police at 2:24 this afternoon.

A law enforcement official said
that the credibility of the

threat was low, but that officials
didn't want to take any chances.
