He says the likelihood of a human
flu pandemic is very high.
Since 2003 the bird flu has swept
through poultry populations in many
parts of Asia and jumped to humans,
killing 60.
While there have been no known

transmission, the World Health
Organization warns that the virus could
mutate into a form that spreads easily
among people.
In a worst-case scenario,
millions of people could die.

This weekend the flu was detected

Europe, Virginia is a very different

38- year- old Ben Fawley is now
charged with possession of a firearm
while a convicted felon.
Fawley is currently in jail
awaiting trial for 16- counts of child
pornography.
The latest charge comes as police
investigate the death of Taylor Behl.
The 17- year- old's remains were
found in Matthews County last week.
Police found Fawley was in
possession of firearms prior to Behl's
disappearance.
Officials have said they won't
make an arrest in the case until they
know how Behl died.

Virginia is negotiating with a new
general contractor.
Today, officials said the change
will not delay the opening of the new
museum in the Fall of 2007.

Last Saturday Also, Virginia Tech Vince Hall is

He had a huge play in the third quarter
iced the win over Marshall, when he
recovered a fumble and returned it 15
yards for a touchdown to make the score
24-7 in favor of the Hokies.
Hall also had 10 tackles,
including three solo stops, and two
quarterback hurries on Saturday.

The Roanoke Valley Vipers kicked
off their first season with their first
practice this morning at the Roanoke
Civic Center.
Head Coach Jim Wiley gave
instruction from the bench while his
assistant coach took care of things on
the Ice. That Assistant is a familiar
face, former Roanoke Express Goaltender
Daniel Berthiume. The Vipers will
hold 2 practices daily up until their
first exhibition game on October 14th.
The practices are open to the public.
Coming up tonight at 6 we will hear
from the Head Coach of the first year
franchise as the Vipers get ready for
their first game on October 21st which
will be at home.

continued to live a charmed life this
weekend as it somehow manage to dodge
the rain drops Saturday and Sunday.
85 drivers made it through
qualifying on Saturday and then
yesterday put on one heck of show for
the in the Bailey's 300 Late Model
Stock Car race.

Bailey's 300 There were 13 caution periods for
:00 69 laps in the main event. Jerame
Donley had some trouble off of turn
four as he gets loose and watch the
cars stack up behind him. The five car
pileup eventually brought out the red
flag and took more than a half hour to
clean up.
Two-time champ Tony McGuire
was battling with pole sitter Jamie
Caudill late in the race when the two
hooked up in turn one. Both were taken
out of contention as Timothy Peters
drove right by and into victory lane in
on the best finishes in track history.
