and over for Tim Kaine dealt with his
religious objection to the death
penalty.

When the debate ended, both
candidates were asked if they could
pledge to keep most of their campaign
ads positive between now and the
election.

Tim Kaine was the only one who

committed.

Later, Jerry Kilgore commented
on why he did not reply, saying he
wasn't prepared to allow a moderater
determine his campaign strategy.

an eight step program will help solve ROLL EDUCATION 7 BANNER the A-Y-P shortfalls encountered last
year.

Patricia Davenport created the
program, and tours around the nation
helping school systems like Roanoke
pass the standards of learning tests,
developed to keep the nation's schools
on the right educational track.

And so far she says Roanoke is
passing the test.

The key to Davenport's program is
making sure that not just teachers, but
the entire school district as a whole,
utilizes these eight steps in their
teaching methods.

Davenport says her system makes
learning more unified.

These teachers are now all
covering the same subject, at the same
time, using the same method.

This won't be the last trip to
Roanoke for Davenport.

She'll be back November 29th, for

a second progress check, and hopefully
another passing grade for the Roanoke
City Schools.

students at Addison Aerospace Middle
School put money in jugs representing
the teacher they would most like to see
bald.

The deal was, the person with the
most money in their jug got shaven,
unless, the total was more than a
grand.
