small bear was spotted on 581 in
Roanoke.

Several people saw the bear the last
few days along Thirlane Road and
581.Yesterday afternoon, State Police
and Roanoke Animal Control finally
caught up with the bear in a tree off
581 near the Hershberger Road exit.

seven organizations around Roanoke that
benefited from the United Way Days of
Caring campaign.

The teens here helped the
Salvation Army gear up for the holiday
season.

In total, 246 Glenvar High School
students took part.

The program is meant to show
students how to give back to their

accomplished in one afternoon the
amount of work that would take them
three months to complete

Two tractor trailers crashed and

say schools are safe, despite an attack
on a principal. .

39 year old Timothy Joe Johnson
is charged with assault and battery.

Investigators say he beat up the
Belview Elementary School Principal.

The incident stemmed from a
misunderstanding over whether Johnson's
daughter was missing from school.

Yesterday, all doors except the
front door were permanently locked and
a new alert system was put in place for
teachers and staff.

Superintendent Tiffany Anderson
also sent home letters with the
students for their parents.


Johnson is banned from Montgomery
County school property.
