She is the Franklin County native and
Roanoke College grad who was murdered

Back on May 21st 2002, 23 year old
Stephanie Bennett was found raped and
murdered in her Raleigh North Carolina
Apartment.

Police had very few leads, so much so
that in August of 2003 Stephanie's
father offered a 100-thousand dollar
reward for any information that led to
an arrest and conviction in the case.

One man was shot and taken to
Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

His name and condition have not
been released.

point outside a Salem business.

Salem police say it happened
yesterday afternoon outside the Advance
America Cash Advance store at Lakeside
Plaza.

Investigators say the woman had
just received a cash advance when she
was accosted.

Witnesses saw the mugger ran
towards some woods and called police.

Officers caught him after a
foot chase.

The suspect has been identified
as 28-year-old Thomas Hairston of
Roanoke.

Police say charges are pending.

Salem police say it happened

Officers caught him after a
foot chase.

The suspect has been identified

May 2002 Police have arrested a Raleigh man
for the murder of Roanoke College
graduate Stephanie Bennett.

The Franklin County native was
murdered in North Carolina over three
years ago.

spent the night searching for the
bodies of at least two children in the
San Francisco Bay.

City officials say a witness called
9-1-1 to report seeing a woman--

mother-- dropping them into the water
from a pier.

more details today about the arrest
made in the Stephanie Bennet murder
case.

Bennett is the Franklin County native
and Roanoke College graduate who was
found murdered in her Raleigh, North
Carolina apartment over three years

Raliegh Police arrested 35 year old
Drew Edward Planten yesterday
afternoon.
