woman found dead after a fire
yesterday, but they still aren't sure
how she died.

Yesterday 41-year-old Sherry Burnette Estep
was found dead at V-and-J Construction
Company after a small fire damaged a
bathroom inside the business.
Authorities have not determined
her cause of death, but say she had no
other injuries beyond the burns she
suffered in the fire.
Test results should show whether
Estep died from inhaling toxic fumes
from the blaze.

lawsuit against Roanoke Sheriff George
McMillan.

claiming the sheriff made
"sexually-charged comments and engaged
in unwelcome physical contact." That's
how the judge summed up the
allegations.
But Judge Sam Wilson says it's
not a class action suit.
Referring to the 30 women King's
lawyer says had similar experiences,
the judge concluded King has "forecast
no evidence to support the existence of
these hypothetical women...."

today to taking thousands of dollars
from her mother.

May This morning a judge found Shelia
Stinnett guilty on five counts of grand
larceny.
Authorities say Stinnett stole
more than one hundred thousand dollars
from her mother's 401-K account for
more than a year.
They say she went to a local B-B
and T branch in town and wrote checks
under her mother's account.
Sentencing has been scheduled for
January sixth.
She could face a maximum of 100
years in prison.

indicted on charges of wire fraud and
money laundering.
Authorities say James and
Stephanie Cox laundered nearly
7-hundred thousand dollars through
James Cox's business in Chester through
another business in North Carolina.
If convicted, the Coxes could
face a maximum sentence of up to 20
years in prison and a fine of up to
500-thousand dollars.

Two men are being questioned
about a suspicious package found in a
car near Capitol Hill.
Traffic was shut down around noon
today when the men grabbed the
attention of Capitol Police, alluding
to the fact that they had something
potentially dangerous in their vehicle.
A bomb squad and HazMat teams
detonated the package.
There's no word what it may have
contained.
The driver of the car is said to
be a US citizen recently returned from
Mexico.
He's undergoing a psychiatric
evaluation.
The other man was a hitchhiker.
The car was rented in Florida.

new judge.
During the brief courtroom
session in Austin, Texas, DeLay's

donated money to MoveOn-dot-org, a
liberal organization that he said has
been selling T-shirts bearing the image
of DeLay's mug shot.
Perkins replied that he's neither
seen nor bought that T-shirt.

is finally out.

the Election Day flood of 1985 ... and
