about a fire that claimed a life at a
construction company near Danville.

10:30 yesterday morning after a fire
was reported inside.
They found an employee of the
business dead near a bathroom in the
rear of the building.
Authorities haven't released her

arraignment in Raleigh.

At the time of the murder,
Planten lived nearby, but police say
there is no indication that Bennett

GRAPHIC=Shooting A teenager has been arrested in
connection with a shooting in Roanoke.

The 17-year-old male was charged
with malicious wounding and use of a
firearm in the commission of a felony.
Police were called to Indian
Village Lane in southeast Roanoke at
8:30 Wednesday night.
A 17-year-old had been shot and
was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Police have not released the
names of either the suspect or the
victim.

Tinker Day is a century-old
tradition at Hollins.

The entire student body climbs

man for robbing the Advance America
Cash Advance in Salem.

was charged with two counts of robbery
and one count of petty larceny for
Wednesday's robbery.

robbery took place out front, but
investigators say Hairston actually

knife, and demanded money from the cash
drawers.
Police say Hairston also stole an
employee's purse.

At Monday's city council meeting,
some band parents blamed the ongoing
problems at Victory Stadium.
The school system insists that is
untrue, it just so happens to be an off
year in which PH has only four home
games.
The Band Normally doesn't perform
during halftime at Homecoming but the
school system is making an exception
for this Friday's game. Half time will
be extended so the band can perform.
