Hurricane Wilma is pounding Mexico.
(natz)
The powerful storm made landfall in
Cozumel this morning...punishing the
popular resort island with winds
topping 150 miles per hour and a
massive storm surge that threatens
heavy flooding.
(natz on phone...we're in a shelter)
Thousands of tourists are in
shelters...where some say there isn't
enough food and medicine.

"I think they led us astray when we
could have been home in the U-S in
safety and we're not."
(Donelan Bridge)
Here in the U-S, the Wilma wait
continues. Forecasters now predict the
storm will spend the weekend at sea,
before making landfall on Florida's
southwest coast some time Monday
afternoon.
And after 4 brutal hurricanes last
year...Floridians intend to be ready.
sot: Corporal Bill Held/Lee County
"It's never old hat, every storm is
different and we have to handle each
storm as they go."
sot: Sean Teal/Florida Resident
(14:34:58)
"You have to take their warnings, if
you don't you will be like the
people of Louisiana sitting on top of a
roof waiting for people to come
and get you."
Wilma is currently on a path to hit the
same region...hurricane Charley
blasted last year. Many in the Punta
Gorda area are still rebuilding
and now face even more destruction.
And even though the storm is
expected to weaken before arriving, it
could still produce a storm surge
up to 17 feet high.
If that happens...many in the sunshine
state could find their homes
underwater and their lives turned
upside down, once again.

The man fighting for the life of one of
Saddam Hussein's co-defendents
paid for it with his own.
Ten masked gunmen burst into the
offices of Sadoun al Janabi last night,
bundled him up and dragged him away...
Hours later his body was found dumped
on a sidewalk outside a Baghdad
mosque..with gunshot wounds to the
head.
Probably the actions of a Shiite
militia hit squad.
Judges and prosecutors have been
provided with heavy protection, the
idea being that they were likely
targets for Saddam loyalists bent on
revenge...their names kept
secret...their faces kept off camera.
Apparently none of those safeguards
were afforded to defense lawyers for
Saddam and his seven co-defendants.
In the midst of a Sunni insurgency,
it's easy to forget that the vast
MAJORITY of Iraqis still seethe with
hatred for Saddam -- and would
gladly see the former dictator and any
of his supporters -- dead.
BRIDGE:
THE MURDER IS A SETBACK FOR THE
DEFENSE, TO PUT IT MILDLY...BUT IT'S
HARD TO PREDICT WHAT EFFECT IT WILL
HAVE ON THE TRIAL, WHICH ISN'T
SCHEDULED TO RESUME UNTIL NOVEMBER
28TH...AND WHO WANTS TO RISK THEIR
LIFE FOR THE SAKE OF DEFENDING SOME OF
THE MOST HATED MEN IN THE COUNTRY?
In other violence...the US military
reports that three US Marines were
killed in a bomb attack, and an Army
soldier was killed in a separate
explosion...nineteen US troops have
been killed this week since the
constitution referendum.
And word today is the official results
on that are STILL a day or two
away...the careful recount because some
areas had unusually high "yes"
or "no" totals.
But whatever the outcome...the
expectations are.....a document meant
to
pull this country together, may serve
to tear it further apart.

third"
HE'S NORWEGIAN. HE'S GERMAN. 24
WRESTLERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD.
THEIR MISSION, TO MAKE AMERICANS
FALL...
FOR THIS ANCIENT JAPANESE SPORT. BUT
JAZZED UP...SORT OF LIKE PRO
WRESTLING....
"cena cena the champ is here"
WELL MAYBE SUMO WON'T BE QUITE AS
PUMPED UP AS WRESTLING. ITS PROMOTERS
SAY THE BATTLE OF THE GIANTS WON'T BE
FAKE AND WILL STICK TO TRADITIONAL
JAPANESE RULES...
"this is gonna be an absolutely
spectacular theatrical sports event
likes of which no one has ever seen."
YEAH, BUT CAN IT BEAT THAT PEPSI
COMMERCIAL FEATURING SUMO CHICKENS...
CAN IT OUTDO AUSTIN POWERS...
AND WILL AMERICANS BE ABLE TO GET OVER
THAT OUTFIT...
"you never get self conscious about
your bottom hanging out? in the
beginning it was a little strange"
THIS HAWAIIAN SUMO CONFESSES TO BEING
SELF CONSCIOUS....
"that's why I wear this"
WHO KNEW, THE THONG COMES IN YELLOW, IT
COMES IN ORANGE.
"mawashi it's called. you have credit
card, hotel key..."
THESE DAYS YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL
FIND IN A MAWASHI...YOU MAY HEAR A SUMO
RING OUT OF THE RING. THESE GUYS MAY
HAVE A SPARE TIRE IN FRONT BUT THE BACK
IS A FLAT...
"I think it's just way too early to be
seeing this right now."
WE MAY BE GUNG HO FOR SUMO...BUT
PLEASE, DON'T TURN AROUND.
